Lode takes flight with Queensland pilot
01-Sep-2008 From 1 September 2008, students from QUT, University of Queensland and the University of the Sunshine Coast will have an exclusive opportunity to advance their professional careers by registering with Lode.
The eight week pilot program will test the innovative Lode platform which aims to connect talented university students with Australia's top employers.
Several of the country's leading employers have signed up for the pilot program and will be actively searching Lode to find students with the right mix of skills and qualifications to fill paid internships and vacation positions during the pilot.
Partner employers including PricewaterhouseCoopers, ANZ Bank, Lifelounge, Bullseye, Bank of Queensland, Cromwell, Thiess, Anglo Coal, Hastings Deering CAT, Brisbane City Council, Hyatt Regency Coolum, Rio Tinto, Minter Ellison, the Brisbane Lions and CSIRO have jumped at the opportunity.
Brian Cooke, Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers' performance improvement group says "Lode promises employers a painless alternative to recruiting university talent. We're very keen to see how the pilot program goes and impressed by the innovative approach taken."
Justin Robinson is the man behind the Lode concept, and Chief Executive Officer of the Brisbane-based company tuscon that is developing the unique site. He is confident the pilot will demonstrate Lode's effectiveness and enable its rapid roll-out in Australia's 38 universities.
"I have been passionate about finding a better way to access the talent within Australia's universities since studying for my MBA back in 2006. Lode is the product of more than two years of research and development, and I believe it offers university students and employers an efficient and effective way to connect. Once we've proven concept, we'll be looking to establish Lode as Australia's first national database of university students," he said.
